# STEP 3: Controller compatibility

Check how your controller connects to the Cronus Zen™ before you set it up. Some controllers are USB-only, some work over Bluetooth®, and some need a wireless adapter.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Limited** means the controller pairs over Bluetooth®, but Adaptive Triggers, rumble, gyroscope, and mic do not work. Connect it over USB if you need those.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Required** means an adapter is needed. Wireless Xbox Series X|S® and Xbox® One controllers need the [Xbox® Wireless Adapter](https://cronus.shop/products/xbox-one-wireless-adapter).

### :headset: Headsets

Whether your headset works depends on how it connects, not on the headset itself.

| How your headset connects | Works |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **USB dongle** — 2.4 GHz wireless receiver plugged into the console | **Yes** |
| **USB headset or DAC** | **Yes** |
| **PS Link** — 2.4 GHz, on newer PlayStation® headsets               | **Yes**                              |
| **3.5 mm jack on the controller** | **Only with console Bluetooth® on** |
| **Bluetooth®, paired to the console**                               | **No**                                 |

#### Why Bluetooth® matters

Zen Link™ PS5® Native Mode requires **Bluetooth® → Off** in the console settings. Anything that relies on the console's Bluetooth® radio stops working at that point. Anything on its own 2.4 GHz link — a USB dongle or PS Link — is unaffected.

#### If your headset plugs into the controller

A headset in the controller's 3.5 mm jack needs the controller connected to the Zen over **USB**, not Bluetooth®. Even then it only works while the console's Bluetooth® is on.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you lose headset audio after setting up Zen Link™, a USB headset or a USB dongle is the reliable fix — most wireless gaming headsets ship with one.
{% endhint %}

### :gamepad: Nintendo Switch® requirements

* Using a **TV dock**: the 15 V power supply must be connected, otherwise the Zen will not power on.
* Using **handheld mode**: a USB-C OTG adapter is required.
* Enable this on the console: **System Settings → Controllers and Sensors → Pro Controller Wired Communication → On**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://guide.cronuszen.com/quick-start-and-downloads/step-3-controller-compatibility.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
